Telescope funded - Easton Huley - 11-01-2018 https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-46046864 This new telescope being built in Hawaii is seen as a disappointment to those native to hawaii due to the cost and environmental affects but this new telescope will allow canadian and american astronomers to potentially discover groundbreaking things due to its 30 meter telescope (the largest in the world). IT cost $1.4 billion to build but I believe the outcome of this telescope has on the scientific community will greatly surpass the construction cost. We need to find out more about outer space in order to learn about our planet. I think there are far worse environmental problems on earth than a telescope being constructed. While there are many other environmental issues that eventually will need to be dealt with, astronomers need all the help they can get to find out new information about the universe. We need to do all we can to find out about the unknowns of space. |
