Return to the moon

US Vice president, Mike Pence says he wants US astronauts on the moon within the next 5 years. He says "Just as the United States was the first nation to reach the Moon in the 20th Century, so too, we will be the first nation to return astronauts to the Moon in the 21st Century". Nasa will be targeting the lunar south pole in which they will face many challenges such as cold traps which are ice water deposits that have collected from meteoroids and comets. The ice water reserves will be turned to use for fuel in the spacecraft. I believe this is a huge step for the states as space exploration is important in our understanding of the universe as well as our ability to advance the technology we currently have. The timeline he has provided will most likely be a major conflict and might be needing to be stretched because of factors such as the need for heavy-lift rockets that can withstand the massive hardware required for lunar landing and journey.  I am glad that there will be funding in the states going towards advancement in our knowledge of sciences although it is a costly venture.
