Paralysed man moves in mind-reading exoskeleton
We are making more and more advancements in our technology to help out world. A surgery needs to be done for this to work, and the suit is not able to be used out of the lab yet, but I have a feeling, that with how quickly our technology advances, the suit will be ready for use out the lab in the near future. The suit is not ready to be out of the lab yet because it is hooked up to the ceiling to ensure that the suit/exoskeleton will not fall over with him, to ensure he is kept upright. The surgery involves covering 2 parts of the brain that control movement and placing implants which read the brain activity and function and sends the message to the computer, to then be performed by the suit. It is amazing how somebody could make something such as this suit that would change so many peoples lives and the struggles they would no longer have to go through. This man who was used in the trial, began to control and avatar on a computer before he got into the suit. This suit does not completely restore function but it does give those paralyzed a chance to walk again. There is the potential to build better more advanced computers to read, in more detail, brainwaves and convert them into functions more easily, as with the rate our world goes, this will soon become a reality. I do have a couple questions on how this may work, but an advancement such as this is a huge step into the mobility of those who are paralyzed. Will this be available for any ages in the future? Will it be functional? Anyone have opinions on this advancement and or further future advancements that should or will be made?
