First ever black hole image released

Sagittarius A* is a black hole that weighs 6.5 million times the mass of our sun and is at the center of the Milky Way. Due to the mass amounts of heat that is produced from the matter that orbits around black holes, telescopes that orbit earth can identify them because they produce X-rays. Despite all the growing astronomical evidence, nobody has ever seen an image of a black hole. After years of effort and determination, researchers at the Event Horizon Telescope have finally produced a high-quality image of what a black hole really looks like. Using supercomputers, scientists were able to decipher 5,000 trillion bytes of data which was accumulated in over two weeks. I believe that science and technologies have made an outstanding impact on human lives, and in the future, this breakthrough will encourage researches around the world to challenge, expand, and develop new theories that will allow science to continue to evolve.

The concept of creating an image of a black hole year before may have seemed impossible, seeing that even light would be enveloped by it. But through the our continued innovation and progression it is now a reality. Considering we can create images of black holes now, this could further research into black holes and better our understanding of this phenomenon.
