Is our Universe just a Giant Simulation?

Some physicists have suggested that our world is just a "gigantic computer simulation" that we mistakenly believe it's real, similar to like experiencing a Matrix-style virtual world. Some may be skeptical about this idea by asking themselves "how can everything be fake when it all feels so real?" but we have to consider that our universe may not be the only one (although we don't have evidence so far). We also have to keep in mind that if there are other universes with higher forms of intelligence, "maybe our whole universe is a science experiment of some junior high-school student in another universe." The concept of this belief frustrates me, how we may never know how our world came to be, at the same time, the notion that we may just be video game characters and not even know it, expands the creativity and curiosity of the great mysteries of our world.
